Frequently Asked Questions
Why did you decide to start a blog when there are 193,845,759+ other beauty blogs out there?
Because I wanted to? And it seemed like it would be fun, which is the most important reason there is, really. Plus I've started experimenting with makeup and nail polish more and like many people, am a victim of the recession so I've started looking for more inexpensive alternatives. Same with fashion. I like to look nice and I tend to have my own weird mix of styles. I'm sure someone out there will appreciate my look :]
So who are you?
I'm Cat, or BC. Nice to meet you. I'm a 30-something SAHM to one little princess and seven amazing kitties. You can read more on the About Me page if you like.
Is that your real hair color?
I'll never tell.
Are those colored contacts?
Nope. I've been asked this a surprising number of times, mostly by random people on the street. That is truly what my eyes look like and I thank my daddy for passing on the wonderful genes that produced my favorite facial feature.
Are those piercings/tattoos real? Did they hurt?
Yes and yes. I will never, ever understand why people ask if they hurt. Needles go into/through your skin, it certainly doesn't feel like butterfly wings softly stroking my skin whilst a kitten gently licks the tattoos on!
Why are you using some "expensive" products?
For some things, there just aren't products that are either safe or effective so I go with a more expensive alternative. In particular, fragrances. I have a lot of allergies to traditional perfumes and my skin is sensitive to boot, so I tend to pay more for products that will avoid nasty allergic reactions. Sometimes I treat myself too. Most of the time I'm out for a bargain but everyone needs to splurge once in awhile!
Where do you buy your products?
Wherever I can get a bargain. Since quite a lot of the brands I use are drugstore brands, I may go to the physical store to buy what I want or I may purchase them online. Check the links page for websites that should fulfill all your thrifty beauty needs.
Are you cruelty-free?
I try my hardest. I do research on the brands I use to find out if they're cruelty-free, or owned by a company that ISN'T (looking at you, L'Oreal) because I am firmly anti-animal-testing for cosmetics.
What camera do you use? How do you take your pictures?
I have a lovely Canon Rebel XSi DSLR. The method of photographing depends on what exactly I'm trying to photograph. I try to use natural light as much as possible as that's going to give the most accurate result. As with many things, I'm always learning!
